: Hats of the time were typically shaped (new) like the hat in "Temple of Doom". Indy's "Raiders" hat was probably pinched so tightly BECAUSE he handled it by the pinch for so many years. Flash's method is the best way to ensure your hat's long, happy life. But the crown of a hat is dented on both sides to give you a place to grab it from.
