: : : : : The Surfwatch program on my computer, which filters out ethically undesirable sites, has blanked out www.xenite.org all of a sudden. Specifically, I'm talking about www.xenite.org/boards/tolkien/jt_board.htm, the weba address for The White Council helpfully supplied to me by Elendil. For those of you who don't know, it's a forum for Middle-Earth, the world of J.R.R. Tolkien. Anyway, I know that at least Elendil and Aragorn (where are you guys?! you're cool!" have been there. Could one of you two, or ANYONE, please go there and find out if there is objectionable material there or not? Only look in the posts from the last few days because I was just there the 11th or 12th. I don't know if it's just a fault with my program or not because I don't maintain it; my parents do and it's not my computer (drat!!!). You may quote me when you say I owe you a favor if you HELPFULLY respond. Will keep you all posted on my dillemma. Thanks loads.

: : : : There was a lot of replies to your "Little Question" and only a couple of new posts, dealing mostly with the LOTR Symphony CD and the Bilbo CD. The newest post was asking if anybody knew if there were any other werewolves in Middle-Earth.
: : : : If you want details, you'll have to tell me/us/whatever what you're interested in. Then I can probably paste all the related stuff into a single email for ya.
: : : Thanks heaps, Jeff. I owe you a favor. Anyway, if you want specifics, the Surfwatch filters out most profanity, pornography, drug abuse, gambling, gangs, bomb-making and the like, gore and violence, hate crime, and other such stuff like this (mostly R- or X- rated stuff I guess you could say). Any of these will prevent my access to this. If this helps, you're welcome and thanks in advance for updates.

: : I would also guess that the base site, www.xenite.org, may be containing some of the afore mentioned material. Lot of ground to cover, but opnly you guys are my ears and eyes into that place and I want to know why my access has been restricted. Thanks again.

: I just visited the Surfwatch webpage. I did a little poking around and discovered that www.xenite.org has "Sexually Explicit" and "Gambling" content. Anyone know exactly what they're talking about. I'm not tasteless; I just want to know what the deal is with that site all of a sudden.
I don't get it. This site is harmless. Maybe it's the combination of "X" (for Xenite or Xena) and "Fantasy" that triggers the sexual stuff, but that doesn't explain why it would lock you out right now. The other objectionable stuff is at worst, hinted at. I don't see much of a problem with this site. Maybe you should email the SurfWatch people and find out the specifics that are wrong. This sure doesn't improve my opinions of content regulation or censorship at any rate.
