Ah what a tangled web we are in the Indy collecting world!

: Your jacket was made from patterns produced from a sample jacket (still in Peter's possession) made for and originally owned by Lee Kepler, which was originally made by (ironically enough) Flight Suits FOR Lee in the 1980's. This was done when Peter first started the Leather Cons. co. Lee was one of the main players involved with this new Flight Suits jacket offering. Interesting circle of events, aren't they? Regards. : : Hi folks. I just got my new HJ hat linings in the mail and I thought
: : I would report to folks that they have changed their hat linings
: : again. This is the third incarnation of hat lining since the films.
: : The first linings seen in the movie hats (most auspiciously in LC when
: : he takes his hat off and when it blows across the ground in front of
: : him) had burgundy and gold printing on a white lining. The second
: : lining (and those that I have had on my two hats up until now) were
: : white with a burgundy oval seal afixed to the lining with gold print
: : on the seal. Well, the new linings are simply white linings with gold
: : print on them. I am a little disappointed as I really liked the look
: : of the burgundy seal. Alas! Time marches on. Still nice though.

: : Also, I recently bought some petersham ribbon which wasn't dark enough
: : to replicate the LC ribbon but I dyed it successfully with RIT liquid
: : dye (combination of dark brown and black) and came out with a great
: : looking ribbon! Thought I would share this with anyone else who
: : wanted to try it. The ribbon was Judith M ribbon (which is
: : cotton/rayon - cotton blend ribbon takes dye vs. polyester which does
: : not), but it was too light. I used a combination of 2/3 dark brown
: : dye and 1/3 black dye and heated in a pan on the stove, left the
: : ribbon in the pan (hot water, not boiling) for about a half hour. It
: : came out terrific!

: : The other thing I wanted to mention is that with all of this talk
: : about the jackets, I looked again at my early Leather Concessionaires
: : jacket (the former name of Wested-still made by Peter). I can
: : officially report to you all that it looks exactly like the Raiders
: : jacket on all of the nitpicky points that have been scrutinized (size
: : of collar, leather colar facing, length of pleats in back, width of
: : the back shoulder panel, location of straps, gussets under the arms,
: : etc.) and for damn sure looks better than those images of the flight
: : suits jacket. I am wondering if this older pattern was more authentic
: : because it hadn't gone through so many incarnations. I think that
: : when I choose to buy a new jacket, I may consider mailing this old one
: : back to Peter to not only have it replicated but give him the
: : opportunity to t
