FS Jacket Size Question

I'm wondering how much the side straps come into play with the jacket size? I say this because I've lost a lot of weight and plan to lose more. My waist is about 38 in. now and my chest is around 44. I just don't want to buy the jacket now and have it not fit when I get down to a 32 inch waist. Any advice?
