Dennis was the head of the prop desighn dept. or something wasn't he? And they put him in as a kind of fun thing for him- they probably said, "let's give him the actual hat, that will be a great "in" joke we can enjoy in years to come" which was more important than serving the viewers- That terrible fitting dirty hat has always looked out of place to me. You were supposed to dress up like you were going to church when you borded an airliner back then. ...ain't that right FG?
