: Coppola is putting out a new version with 53 more minutes than the original. Didnt mention any new scenes of Harrison Ford though. But we'll see.

There are no new scenes involving Ford, as his character was only briefly within the opening moments where Williard is given the assignment to kill Kurtz. There are, however, many other scenes that were filmed -- including extensive scenes with Bob Duvall, Dennis Hopper (isn't it funny how in the original version he disappears without mention? Another sequence had been filmed when we learned of what happened to him), and an extended scene when Williard's boat finds a French plantation. (This scene was covered in the HEARTS OF DARKNESS doucmentary.)

The original cut for APOCALYPSE NOW was rumored to have been nearly five hours -- like Cimino's HEAVEN'S GATE and Malick's THIN RED LINE. Not all of the footage will be included, but this re-working of one of the best war films ever made is a welcome one.

If anyone's interested in the film's sound effects, a company calle dTHE HOLLYWOOD EDGE has published for commercial sale many of the ground breaking effects used for the film.
