Your jacket looks great. I got my distressed cowhide Wested around the same time period and I also darkened it with Pecards, but after using an abrasive to highlight the seams (I can't bring myself to use acetone--MK has much bigger juevos than I). It came out very nice. I wasn't too happy with the appearance of the distressed leather at first, but the Pecards worked wonders. Now if I could just do something about the pleats gaping open...
