Interesting topic - but I disagree...Rick wasn't nearly as compelling as Indy was in ROTLA. I don't think Rick is as complex; we know nothing about him, he's just there!
Indy has this wonderful backstory that's alluded to with Marion's reaction, and his relationship with Marcus and Belloq. I just don't get a sense of that...
In terms of popularity, you don't see anyone trying to hunt down O'Connell gear which has been happening in the Indy world ever since Day 1...Rock O'Connell just seems like a bad reflection of Indy...

But hey, that's just MY opinion!
