: Those of you who own one of these "Old Cow" jackets...
: The praise and enthusiasm for these new jackets is impressive. The accuracy and light weight of the jacket make it sound like a worthwhile purchase.
: My issue, like the fedora ribbon of an earlier post, is the color.
: USWings Goat and lamb seem to have the color dead to rights, but that "Old Cow" seems really, really light in color, almost coffee brown. I appreciate that the photos at the USWings site are not too terribly accurate, but the difference in color between this jacket and the others on the same webpage is rather extreme. it seems to me that for accurate color and flow of material, lamb or goat is still the best option, unless you go with FS jacket, where deer is apparently an option.
: Anyone disagree?
: I'd love to hear I'm wrong on this...

I'd have to agree with you on this. I have one of the OC jackets, and love it. But I love it because it is a terrific jacket, not really because of how accurate it is. USW has done well in adjusting the pattern on this, and I believe the jacket is more accurate than before. The only items really remaining to make it dead-on to the ToD is to reverse the zipper and replace the d-rings with pronged buckles. Aftetr that, and as you say, the choice of skins to make it accurate would have to be lamb or goat.

I would not hold this jacket to be the one jacket you should own if you want accuracy. It is an excellent addition to a collection - even if it juat a collection of 2 jackets. If your objective is "the look" and not the detail and you only have room for one, I'd say this is also an excellent choice for you. Everyone has different expectations for their gear. This OC fills a void and offers the fan another alternative, and is just one hell of a nice jacket.

Lots of thoughts - hopefully some of them came out clearly...

Cheers!
