I´m a spanish student and I have seen the movie ans i would help you, sorry for my bad english.
I readed your qestion the other day and, I think that that mission was a mistake because the war is the war and I think that 8 soldiers died looking for one soldier and it was very dangerous and dificult mission where 8 mother and women felt that her sons and husband died for aliviate the pain of 1 mother that had lose 3 sons else.
