As to the weather proofing of the deerskin, I can attest to that, and to the advice that Dave Marshall gave on using Pecards. I gave mine a heavy coating, and can tell you that after a while to soak in, you can not tell it was ever done to the jacket, and yet it's as water proof and a rubber rain coat now. It can be done, so don't consider this as a problem. It has a solution. Regards. Michaelson

: Why don't you trot this idea past David Hack of US Wings? I know that there is a cloth A-2 out there that sells like hot cakes, why not a cloth Indy? I personally think you have a great idea there, as we all usually have to hang our jackets up in warmer weather, why not have a cloth version for summer wear? I'm serious, run that one by David and see what he thinks. He'd be the one I'd think could make something like this happen. High regards! Michaelson

:
: : How about if someone made a Raiders style jacket out of cotton? I'm
: : serious for the following reasons:

: : 1. Price
: : A very nice cotton jacket can be purchased for about $130.

: : 2. Weight and breathability
: : Sometimes (especially if you live in a warm climate) it would be nice
: : to have a really light jacket that can be worn more often than a
: : leather jacket.

: : 3. Convenience
: : Cotton can be washed. Cotton can be made water resitant.

: : 4. Cotton doesn't sqeak...

: : I would wear a Raiders style jacket made out cotton, would you?
: : FG
: : PS: Regarding FS, I'm partial to the chrome goat now. It seems to
: : offer the best all over compromise in terms of looks and durability
: : for my needs.
: : I made a little test: I soaked the goat swatch in water and let it air
: : dry. It didn't get brittle or shrink at all! :)
: : As far as color and feel of the material is concerned, I still think
: : that the deer looks and feels the best. It's just a tad stretchy for
: : my taste, and the leather seems to need a lot of weather proofing!
