: I have a 12 foot (16 plait kangaroo). It is my first whip and I didn't have a hard time learning to crack it. I the toughest part is not killing yourself while learning. I found that I can get the best sound with the forward crack. I have also been practicing on targets. I had the whip for two months now and getting very good at it.

: Dave.
I also have a mark allen 12 footer. It takes a little more skill than a 10 footer, but not much. The questions are:
a) Do you have time to practice?
b) Do you have a large enough area to swing the whip?
c) Do you want to do tricks?,ie..,the shorter the better.
You can have alot of fun with all three sizes.

: : ok, a 10 or 8 foot whip from Mark Allen? you guys like both. Which
: : is the better length?

: : why is a ten footer better than an 8? I heard that the ten footers
: : are difficult to crack without a lot of practice. True or false?

: : with the fall and popper, an 8 footer is about 10 feet on a mark
: : allen, anyway, t or f?

: : I just don 't know whether it's worth getting the extra two feet for a
: : ten footer or not. I just want a good, all around whip to use.

: : cheers,
