: Sean, I think you would be happy with either the 8ft or the 10ft bullwhip. Marks whips are really good, so either way you’re covered. I normally recommend going with an 8ft bullwhip as a starter whip, unless for some specific reason you would need one longer or shorter. 8ft tends to be a good overall length, you can do a lot with them and they are not so long or heavy where you might feel the need don't to force or over muscle the whip while working.

: As others mentioned, Marks whips as most Australian bullwhips are measured from the butt of the handle to the tip of the braid where the fall is attached. The fall and cracker typically add about another two feet. I might also suggest picking up some extra crackers with your order, unless you know how to tie your own. Good luck and hope this helps.
