Well....I can speak to the pre-distressed cowhide that Peter is currently doing by saying that, after a good solid treatment of the jacket with Pecards leather dressing, it has turned a VERY dark brown with rich, reddish brown highlights at the distressed areas. I have not seen one of the new cowhides, but after talking about my jacket with Michaelson, he and I both think that my jacket IS one of the new cowhides that had been very lightly distressed (you can request the degree of distressing on it). So...I can say from my personal experience (and lack thereof with regard to the lambskin Wested) that the cowhide jackets ARE a VERY dark brown...and in the right light, are as dark if not darker than the movie jackets.
