Raiders: Whip in Belt Holder: 8 or 10 feet?

So what is the definitive answer on the length of the David Morgan whip carried coiled in the belt holder in Raiders? (versus the length of the version he actually whipped) Has anybody compared different lengths and how they look carried in the holder against the film? Thanks.
