This is one of the drawbacks to Alden shoes. It has happen to me with the 405 and the all weather walker but it will probably happen with any shoe that contains a lot of metal i.e. (steel toe boots). If you think things are bad in US airports try London Heathrow. One fellow frisks you while his partner keeps the automatic machine gun leveled square at your back. They take terrorism very seriously in Britain. I like the idea of just setting the shoes on the X-ray. It will save you a lot of hassle.
