I'm assuming that Stacey Adams have several product lines that cater to different tastes. This doesn't look like an urban male model to me. These shoes are often featured in "Swing" and "vintage clothing" websites. They really do have a thirties look to them which is what I'm looking for. I agree with Bennet's post above about how things today aren't made like they used to be. Moreover, I think that tastes have changed dramatically and that's why most people don't find them aesthetically appealing. Anyway, its all a matter of taste.

: I'm a bit of a shoe guy myself, and the Aldens were the first piece of Indy gear I purchased. Followed shortly by a Herbert Johnson.

: Stacey Adams is a brand of footwear for the "urban contemporary male", much like FUBU is a brand of clothing for same. I've seen Stacey Adams shoes in stores and they appear to be made of a cheaper quality leather that looks like vinyl. But I hope they are everything you hope they would be. Good luck.

: : I went with their product description, which stated the width, but you're right, they do look like they would be narrower. I'll be interested in what you think when yours arrive. Regards. Michaelson

: : : Actually judging from the pictures, they do look like they were made on a narrower last (I'm a bit of a shoe freak). I've just ordered them, so I'll let you know. Incidentally, the Alden's were my first piece of Indy gear. That's probably quite unorthadox for most.

: : : : Very nice looking shoes. The only problem I'd see is they're limited to D and wider widths. I couldn't wear them, and I'm sure a lot of folks couldn't either. Regards. Michaelson

: : : : : Stacey Adams makes a boot called the Madison in Kid Skin. They have lots of colors to boot (no pun intended) and they're around 100 bucks. Now they don't have a Neoprene/Cork soles nor the mock toe of the Aldens, but, they do seem to have a nice retro Indyish look to them and a goodyear welt that sticks out.
