The original did have a simple leather strip lined opening. The elaborate inner pocket lining you see on the Wested is actually a Flight Suit design. Peter must have copied it from the now infamous "Keppler prototype". Flight Suits made that pocket design long before Peter ever offered it. But as for the original, it was a plain strip of leather.
