To Patterson or MK.....or both

I thank you for helping make the Expo as close to exact as possible.
For the sake of curiosity, let me ask you this.

Presently, the gussets sit at, what approx. 2.5" or 3" wide?
Whatever they are....seems they are not too functional and that's fine because that's how it was originally produced.

My question is, how many more inches wider (minimum) would the gusset have to be to be universally agreed upon as functionally okay and worth being there?

Inquiring mind....thought one of you might know since you saw the jacket close up.
