Aldens Question: Leather Color

I thought I had read here about 6 months ago that the Aldens were going back to the darker leather color (As opposed to staying with the orangeish/brown that are seen on the Indygear pages). Was this a rumor that never panned out? Are Aldens still orangeish/brown?

And for those of you with the lighter colored Aldens, does anyone have any experience using shoe polish, Pecards, etc, to darken the leather to a more "normal" color? (See the pics at Indygear to see the differences). I really prefer the darker, burgandy color, rather than the brown/orange they are now.
