At the rear, the brim is 2 7/8 inches but the front is 2 3/4 inches. The color is hard to pin down. Under different lighting it looks brown, grey, and even a greenish grey. I like it though. For about $50 including shipping, this is a real buy. I might even order another.(at a size lower)
