I never really paid much attention to Indy's whip when it was coiled on his belt in 'Raiders', maybe because it was hidden so well by the bag. But in the other movies it's more visible and I'm positive that those are not 10-footers. I'm also 100% sure that the whip that Indy coils up after whipping Barranca in the beginning of 'Raiders' is NOT a 10-footer. There's just no way because he coils it up in about 2 or 3 coils. My 10-ft DM takes about 4 or 5 coils.

I also agree with the speed of an 8-footers compared to a 10. My 10-ft DM is rather sluggish and really tires me out quickly. To me, the whip used during whipping scenes is definitely an 8.
