A leaky Zippo you say? And MAYBE a way to fix this problem...

You said you had enough of your leaky Zippo?
I've got the fix. Maybe it's a dangerous one? Hehehe! Now all the gas
fumes that
used to escape through the large gaps between the lighter insert and
the case are
bottled up. Is there a risk of a major explosion in your pants?
Possibly...
That's why I don't recommend this modidfaction at this time.
But I'll let you know anyway.

After disassembling the lighter I cut it in two halves.
I fashioned a brass extension ring. I soldered the connection and used
epoxy to
attach the ring to the upper half of the lighter.
After the top half had cured I used epoxy to "glue" the lower half of
lighter to the
extension ring, leaving a narrow gap for an O-ring.
Now I'll have to find an O-ring that fits. It has to be a thin one,
the kind I might
find in the screw-on back of a watch. If I can't find the right O-
ring I will use RTV
to make a gasket...

Again, be warned, this could be an explosive lighter. Should you not
hear from me...
Well, you get the idea! ;)
