Raiders WS, a question

I watched Raiders in widescreen for the first time, i enjoyed it, actually it was fantastic. It sounded great in Dolby Surround, always the case with a Spielberg flick.
I really recommend you watch Raiders in WS.
I also watched the making of and there is a scene where Indy uses his whip against the swordsman. Am I right in thinking that they ditched that scene and went with the shooting one (Indy shoots the swordsman).
