FS Goatskin color under the dye

I was just looking at the FS darkbrown goatskin sample that came with my Expedition and noticed that blue/grey color when looking at the sample side on. However, the leather zipper-pull that came with the jacket is not the same. It has a brownish color throughout. And, I'm proud to say, I was moving furniture in the thing last weekend and already have a very nice scuff and slight quarter inch long slice (just through the grain) on the left elbow and it's not grey underneath. It's a very nice jacket.
