The way I see it:
A very comfortable, orthepedically enhanced, very tough, long lasting (especially with care!), pair of Aldens, which look good everyday or even with dress clothes, for $245, or a pair of $125 "popular" brand gym shoes (Nike Rebok etc) that look cool on the streets and will most likely be worn out after, what, 3 months?
Yeah, my Nikes, Reboks etc usually lasted 3-4 months, and I wasn't particularly active. I've become more active over the last couple months, and my Aldens are already a year and a half old, and still in great condition. I just had to tack on an extra $15 for new heels, but that was mostly due to damage taken involving my friends, a video camera, and stupid stunts. :)
