I am a PB owner and I agree with West. I used the first set of specs off Indy Gear with a pic from the Cairo street fight. Joe ran with it and created a dead on look alike.

I even told Joe in my order letter,

"I am 6'3 with a 7 1/2" head size. If you feel that these specs (the Indy Gear specs of 2 3/4" x 2 5/8") should be modified to achieve the proper look, change them at your discretion. I am not going to get arrogant and tell you, the professional hat maker how to do your job."

Joe didn't change them and I even sent an e-mail to Patterson prior to ordering asking him the very same question. He said I "should be fine with the original measurements." And they were both right.

It is my opinion that the new 2 7/8" x 2 3/4" is based off of a higher crown measurement to make it accurate for larger hats.
