Please help - Wested jacket mods.

I've decided that I'll hand over my Temple jacket to our most trusted tailor to have the side straps lifted to the correct height. Thanks Bennet for the advice.
My only question remains is that of whether the straps should be placed on the inside or outside of the jacket. I know Wested is placing them outside on the current modification, but are we 100% agreed that they were on the outside in all movies?
Is there any other reason why Wested would now place them on the outside, rather than in the inside seam? Perhaps they may be a stronger attachment and help the pleat more readily stay closed.
Also, I suspect the split in the bottom of the side pleat might now be longer; if this is so, could any owners of post-mods let me know the length.
