Underside of hat to underside of hat. You should see the approximent amount you need to take off in the overlap of the undimensional Fed against your dimensional cut PB. See the HJ letter. Patterson and I have almost the same hat specs on our PBs and even with just 1/8 inch off the sides, you can tell the difference. Course, ultimately, it's
up to personal preference.
