Yeah I gave up on trying to detach the "chicago screws" on my Noel Howard strap, and I decided to just cut the leather below where the old strap was connected. My bag always hung a little low anyway, because I ordered the 71" strap. I probably should've gone with the 65", because I'm 5'10" and I think that's where the cut-off between the sizes is.

Anyway, I used the extra chicago screw provided by Noel Howard. The new buckle looks a lot better and the new length of the strap is better than before too. Now the top of the bag sits pretty much at belt height, whereas before it was about 2" below.
