Seven Pillars of Wisdom is basically a chronical of the war in Arabia and Palistine. It gives a detailed look into the culture of the area and motivations of the Arab revolt. I do not think it gives an insite into Lawrence himself.

Lawrence was an archaeologist and adventurer and a colleague of Leonard Wooley. He was profoundly affected by his experiences during the war, and, like many others, was never "normal" afterwards. He was a part of the "lost generation" of former soldiers, and twice re-enlisted in the military because he could not fit in to civilian life. The person he was after the war was very different from the person he might have been had there not been a WWI.
