I guessed that the knight gave his final wave, and at last died with honor. After all, if the pewter cup didn't get crushed under several tons of Petra rock, it probably took a dive into the abyss, never to be seen again. After 700 years, I would think that even the most die-hard fan of eternal life (Donovan included) would be ready to go on to his reward.
As far as the destruction of the temple is concerned, maybe that represented the end of it all for the Grail and the Knight.
My question is, when we saw Indy break through the 'J' tile, we saw the underside of the floor. What exactly was holding up the correct tiles?
