Not annoying, but consider the following:

1. It appears the blade crosses the entire width of the path, so even
if two or three went together, they might all have had their heads
removed.

2. Indy didn't have a shovel to break the lettered stone tiles.

3. I don't think anyone in the same position as Indy would think to
lower one foot "just to see" if there was a cleverly hidden bridge
across the chasm.

Just my thoughts.
