The boots are similair in style to US Cavalry officers field or "undress"boot.This style was popular between the world wars with officers of all services,the differances between the "ündress" and the "dress" boot are minor,the field boot has a laced section on the outside of the boots cuff and a laced section across the instep and the dress boot is a tall full slip on riding boot.Both are common styles and can still be purchased from a an original 30s manufacturer,Dehners(These guys used to make Pattons boots).
As to Ricks trousers,the correct description is Jodphurs,jodphurs differ from Breetches in that they are fitted at the thigh and breeches are full and roomy above the knee.
