I was discussing movies that aren't out on DVD yet with a
coworker of mine, and he told me that George Lucas hasn't put
the Star Wars stuff on DVD yet because he is waiting for HDVD
(High-definition DVD) to come out. My coworker went to a trade
show this yeaar and saw that quitee a few companies already
had some kind of prototype for this technology, and he expects it
to be available for retail purchase in about two years.

Could this be also why many good films, including the Indy
movies, have also not been released? Maybe Lucas wants to do
the same for the Indy trilogy as he's doing for Star Wars.

It's an interesting theory, but I'd still like a copy of Raiders on real
(non-ebay) DVD while we're waiting for the Hi-definition version. I
imagine, though, issues such as ribbon type on the Raiders hat
would be answered in a second as soon as the HDVD version
hits the stores.

Two years (sigh)...
