I am not up to date eighter but AFAIK his character will return
this season. That's because he got some kind of evil twin in an
older episode and no one knows which Professor had died. And
John Rhys-Davies will not be in Voyager this season therefore
he has time to play in Sliders again.

BTW: Has anyone seen the Sliders episode in which Rhys-Davies
made an Indy joke? He said something like "The children are
getting more and more stupid because of watching movies like
Indiana Jones..." in a very funny way.
