Many moons ago, I was convinced by many here at the forum that I was the only Young Indy fan out there! I'm sure that must've been just a statistical fluke. Anyhow, YIJC came out just as I was re-discovering my love for the character of Indiana Jones (after a brief lull in the post-Crusade period), and as I was finding the novels at my local bookstore. At that age, I was a fan of history, and then boom! George Lucas combined Indiana Jones with approachable history and I was hooked. After each episode, I would go to my local library and find a book on the Battle of Verdun, Pancho Villa, T.E. Lawrence, whatever that episode had been about. In effect, Young Indy turned a smart-mouthed punk kid into a smart-mouthed punk kid with an insatiable love for history. And it continues to this day!
