: : : O'Connel DID, in fact, have the Medjai tattoo on his right wrist in the first film. It's clearly seen in the opening scene as there about to face the opposing army at Hamunaptra. Right after Bennie flees O'Connel raises his rifle and takes aim. You can see the tattoo here. In some other scenes he appears to have a similar tattoo on his right HAND, just below the webbing of his thumb and index finger. I don't know what this is about, but it seems to appear and disappear at will.
