To respond to this post and the one below, congradulations on your jacket and I think you should have gone with the medium size like Zippy stated below. I am a hard man to size (my shoulders being at about 42, chest at 38, and waist at 36, and then there are other sizing details) but regularly when dealing with standard sizes I am forced to go with a 42. When I emailed Sgt Hack with these details he told me that a medium sized VIP would fit me fine in his opinion and I have heard Sgt Hack is very dependable with the info he gives out. In addition I've already heard in the past that the VIP runs a big large so you'd be better off with a medium rather than a large.
