In the novel adaption of Crusade, there was a WWI flying ace telling heroic stories of what he did in WWI in the zeppelin. When Indy escapes the zeppelin with his dad, the ace - drunken - jumps into another plane with a Gestapo / Nazi officer but they directly crash into a mountain wall.
