Suppose it crashed in the Libyan desert and the Italians got a hold of it, and instead of opening it, Mussolini marched it at the head of his army and finally won a battle without relying on the numerical disadvantage of his enemy? Of course, in "real" life, Mussolini probably DID have access to the Ark, only because he'd conquered Ethiopia by the middle of 1936. Well..."conquered" isn't the right word...
