Marcus would have shot up the bar in Nepal, got the headpiece, gone to Cairo. He knew Sallah, so they would have found the map room. He would have found the ark, excaped with Marion from the Well of Souls, got the crap beat out of him by the big German, got dragged under a truck, etc. We would all be wearing "Marcus" jackets instead of "Indy" jackets, and waiting for "Marcus IV".
