Egypt
Pyramids, Sphinx, Karnak, etc., great food, incredibly dangerous taxis, inferior wine, also light on the booze joints, some terrorists, many "Mummy"-inspired tourists, street thieves galore, altogether some definite Indy-appeal.

Greece
Piraeus a wonderful site at sunset, pleasant walk up the Acropolis, good hearty chow, street thieves galore, impossible to get lost on the Athens subway, nice museums but most famous pieces relocated to London. Definite Indy-appeal, slightly less "exotic" than Egypt (e.g., few monkey-men passing out bad dates).

Guatamala
Hot in the lowlands, very pleasant in the highlands, very tasty food, good drink, lots of hippie gringas out for a semi-anonymous fling during their breaks from Spanish language school, cheaper than Egypt, way cheaper than Greece, police death squads mostly retired, occasional armed thugs pulling over tourist busses in the countrysides - they rarely shoot anyone if they're cooperative - oh, and FANTASTIC archaeological ruins. Those Maya, still making headlines after more than a thousand years. Definite Indy-fun, and you'll probably see more temples and chacmools in a week than Indy saw in three whole movies. Plus, after you've ridden on a few rural Latin American local busses, you'll wonder why carnivals in the States seem so dull-lit and blandly decorated!
Keep us posted on your plans!
