Just a couple of quick gear notes from the latest installment of my desert adventures. Last weekend I headed off for Baker California with my Akurba FED and my hand aged FS chrome goat. This was the first trip for this gear. Both preformed great. When I first got the FED I was thinking I wouldn't wear it much because of my PB. Well...my opinion has really changed. The FED is a super hat. With it's narrower sweatband, it is a lot more comfortable then the PB. Also being shorter and softer, it's much better on a bumpy desert excursion. The PB is the best hat going, but I really love the FED too. The goat was too hot for most of the 90+ weather, but I did wear it in the mornings, evenings and photo ops (sly grin).
