There are a couple reasons. The first would be labor and expertise. I heard that a whip maker's apprenticeship is five years. The second would be the cost of leather. Kangaroo hide isn't cheap. They're a relatively small animal. If you have ever handled a high priced whip, you begin to see why they cost so much. I have never handled a "David Morgan", so I can't comment on his whips or prices. The "Mark Allen" whips on the other hand are definatly worth the money. The David Morgans are at least as good as the Mark Allens, if not better. Maybe someone else can comment on if the Morgans are worth the extra money. Regards
