During the mid to late 60's Ford was working at Bullock's department store and while driving his old volvo through Hollwood, california's winding road of Laurel Canyon he looked down to fasten his seatbelt and wound up hitting a telephone pole and his chin the volvo's steering wheel. Due to no medical insurance he had to settle for a cheap stitch job in an emergency room leaving him with his trademark scar.
