But try to learn about Doris Miller as little as ten years ago and you wouldn't have found much about him. I was in the Navy and in boot camp we learned quite a bit of Naval History and spent quite some time on the attack at Pearl Harbor but NOTHING even mentioned about Miller. Very sad.
It's one of the few interesting points in the movie and even that seems to be played down. A little more important and interesting than a goofy love triangle in my opinion. (Men of Honor! Awesome movie!)
