Pretty conveniant that his fav ship USS Indianapolis was out of port that day. (Along with all the carriers)
BTW - That's the movie that needs to be made. The USS Indianpolis. If anyone hasn't read, 'In Harm's Way. The sinking of the USS Indianapolis' it's a GREAT book!
