There's no accounting for taste, but I think the point is that Indy has NEVER been marketed in the same way that Star Wars has been. Not that it's a bad thing, but at no time has the public ever been deluged with Indiana Jones in the same way that they have been with Star Wars. I think the primary reason for this is that Lucas has always considered SW to be for kids, hence the massive merchandising for youths.
