I spoke to Gerry at Wested (but haven't been able to speak to Peter) about this and he claimed that some movie jackets had leather facings on the collar and some didn't.

Personally, I've always thought it a little odd that the pre-revised Wested (the only one I have) doesn't have facings, and I can see no reason for not having them. Furthermore the lack of facings has been commented on by friends, so I think my opinion is justified.
